EPA Notifies VW of Additional Clean Air Act Violations

A news release by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that the agency issued a second notice of violation of the Clean Air Act to Volkswagen (VW). The second notice alleges that VW installed a defeat device in certain vehicles in order to pass vehicle emissions tests. This second notice is in addition to the first notice of violation which was filed on September 18, 2015 and includes additional models of Volkswagen diesel vehicles as well as Audi and Porsche diesel vehicles. Without the defeat device, these vehicles emit up to nine times the EPA standard of the pollutant nitrogen oxide.
