General Motors’ earnings soar in 2nd Quarter 2015
The New York Times recently reported that GM’s 2015 second quarter earnings were five times as large as the same timeframe a year ago. The company reported a pretax profit of $2.78 billion in North America which is nearly double last year’s second quarter profit. These figures include the $75 million charge GM took during the quarter to add to its existing compensation program for victims of its faulty ignition switches. U.S. Attorneys are currently investigating GM and the Justice department is expected to seek criminal charges against the company.
