A cyberattack on the company has compromised over 10 million customers’ names, social security numbers, addresses, birthdates, financial information, and claims. The breach mainly affects residents of upstate New York where Excellus is located. The company said that unauthorized computer access was discovered on August 5, 2015 but further investigation revealed the initial attack occurred in December of 2013.
